ABOUT ME

Hi everybody! Welcome to my official author website. My name is Ashley B. Lovell and I am the eBook author of my 1st book Spirit Keeper in The Spirit Keeper Series.

I was born in Pella, IA on June 5th, 1988 and raised in Knoxville, IA where I live now with my black cat Spook. I grew up in the country side when I was a little kid. Surrounded by the woods and the beauty of nature I found it all very interesting and fascinating. I knew there was so much to see and learn instead of staying inside all day watching tv. I grew up around our six dogs, Bear, Liberty, Tebra my dog, Pugs, Ben and Roundy. Then there was 10 or even more cats running around outside. Midnight, Midnight Jr, Thunder, Ariel, Spike, Spike Jr, Spanky, Tom and little kittens running around in the house and outside in the shed.

I still live in Knoxville, IA along with my cat Spook. My daughter/writing buddy. She's always around me when I write, either sleeping on my bed, laying by my feet or laying right by my keyboard when I am writing.

In 5th grade I found drawling very interesting and started to draw. I was very passionate and creative about it. I drew Mickey Mouse, Chuckie, a rug rat characters, Lady from Lady and the tramp, Jasmine from Aladdin, Pocahontas. I grew flowers, faces and other stuff. When I took them to my class to show everybody, a couple of boys accused me of tracing them when I didn't. I was heartbroken and sad. I gave up drawing completely. I put the pictures in a box, shoved it under my bed and never looked at them again.

Then something incredible happened in the summer of 2004 in August when I was just 16 years old. I remember it was a hot summer day. I was in the living room watching National Treasure, starring Nicolas cage. My mom was lying on the couch doing a word puzzle. As I'm sitting there watching the movie, something came across my mind. At the time I had no idea where this idea came from. But I had a story idea of a girl that finds treasure in the basement of her mom’s house. I sat there and thought of it, then got up and wrote it down before I forgot it. So through the passing days the idea was stuck to my mind like gum. It wouldn't go away. I tried to forget about it, but the idea just kept coming back. So for that whole summer I worked on that and when I got it half way done another idea came to me about a skeleton key. Just like the 1st I had, this 2nd story idea wouldn't go away either so I worked on it and when I finished the whole thing I was very happy that I got it done. I took it to school and showed everybody, my friends, and teachers. I was very proud of that 2nd story. But then somebody had to say 'you can't do that title or you will get in trouble' it upset up and made me mad. And yes I gave writing. I never wrote again until next year of 2005 in August I thought of a vampire story and that's when my writing career went off and hasn't stopped yet and I hope it never does until my time it up on this earth.

Through the passing years since I was 16 I have worked on 10 unpublished novels then I found another creative thing that I thought I never had. Song writing. I started to write song lyrics in 2005, I remember in August of 2005 I bought Hilary Duff's album Most Wanted. I was so inspired and motivated by her album; I started to write my own songs. I was writing what I was feeling. Writing my feelings out lifted a lot off my shoulders and I could breathe better instead of holding it all in and stressing and worry about it. From 2005 to 2013 I've written over 1,714 songs all together. Obviously I had a lot to say and express it.

Then I wrote poems in the winter of 2010 and started to write short stories since 2011. I'm currently working on my previous Paranormal/Horror novel (Awakened Evil) the sequel to The Spirit Keeper Series. It’s turning out really well right now. I still have a lot of re writing to do, before I put it out on Amazon. I think I might get it done next year or maybe in 2017, I'm not really sure. I just want it to be complete and good before anybody reads it.

I have at least 48 single novel ideas and 26 book series from different genres, but most of them are horror and paranormal because that’s what I love to write the most. It’s what I enjoy and love. I've joined The Marion County Writers Work Shop in 2010 and have been going ever since. I love going to the writer’s workshop because they help me out and help me write better. And I've kind of noticed from when I 1st started until now my writing has changed completely. Sometimes I'll look back at my old writings and see how bad and different my writing was.

I've been to writer workshops in the past with my writing group. I love going to them because I meet other authors and hear their stories and how they started to write and what they write about it.

I also was a finalist in The Write Place contest located in Pella, IA. When I look back at that process I wanted to win so bad because all I ever wanted was have a book on the shelf and see my name on the front cover. That’s it. When I found out I was a finalist that was really good news. That to me said I was closer to having my dream come true.
